Description

Been a while - I've been really busy with commissions for the past several months, so this is the first finished personal piece since August.

The dialogue between these two would go something like this, if anyone was around to hear it:
"It is your time to go, please step off the scythe so I can collect you."
"Nnnnnnnnnno."

Had a lot of fun with this. The scythe even got a name - Weeping Wind. 'Cause there's a sort of squiggle on the blade that makes it look a bit like a face. Also, she's not naked. She's merely wearing Spirit Spandex. It's all the rage in the spirit world, you know.

And yes, the title is one hyphen short of a horrible pun. Keke.

Wacom Intuos 3, Corel Painter 9, not particularly long, but too scattered over a few months to tell.

May not be used for derivative works, traced, put on a sandwich etc. etc. May be reposted for as long as my name and a link back to my gallery are provided along with the image in a clear fashion.

Very strong image. The composition is particularly striking, as are the poses of the two figures, although they are slightly stiff looking. I don't have much of critiques for this one. The only thing that I would alter a bit are the colors of the background and figures; They are a bit too similar, giving a slightly flat look. Although that's nitpicking more than anything. Top marks.

I said this on DA also... but although the details are always great, the color palette seems terribly limited. Try working with a full-color palette and re-mix or re-pick the color every time you need it again. That will throw a little random variation in at least.

Well  JMayer it's a bit of a personal preference as well. I enjoy looking at and playing around with limited palettes - not that I haven't done paintings with the whole rainbow in them. And I believe green had no business here, if that is what you mean with full palette. :p

True, green would be conceptually out of place. But there are millions of colors. Some orange and ochre tones might be nice hidden in with the reds.

By full palette, I mean that the full palette is available to you. My painting professor would always make us have every color on our palettes while we painted. We wouldn't have to use every color, but it's there if you ever feel the need. Sometimes colors are more complex than our left brain thinks that they are.

It's always nice to see something new from you! :) I like a lot the concept and the overall mood is just amazing. But... I feel the ghostly figure could have been improved somehow... can't really put my finger on it right now, but perhaps some softer and cleaner brushstrokes would work? It's nitpicking though.. ;)
